Retirement?!?

If I remind you of MJ or any other such athlete who went in and out of retirement like clothes in a laundry mat, there may be an inkling of prescience to that. Nevertheless, as I examined the terrain and tough footing atop of Bishop’s Peak this am, I reflected that I might be better off “barefoot in the Graaaaasss”with Ed Sheeran than scrambling among treacherous boulders at top speed. Will my retirement stick? Not on your life!
Pat,
I’m so happy for your tough decision and what future God has for you in that space. And I believe that your gut instinct is the Holy Spirit leading you forward. Amen.
I enjoyed your commentary. I prefer the term “transition” over “retirement.” The word retirement seems so final and absolute as though there is nothing that follows. Transition, on the other hand, points to something new and unexplored and opens the mind to the endless possibilities that God has already planned for us in the days and years ahead.
Blessings,
