About Coach Reed
A financial advisor, writer, photographer and runner, Patrick Reed ran to 3rd place finishes at the Philadelphia Marathon (1998) and the Marine Corps Marathon (1998), and has a half marathon personal best of 1:05:42 and marathon best of 2:25. Patrick’s most prized running accomplishment is his completion of the SwissAlpine Marathon 78k course in 7 hours and 43 minutes in Davos, Switzerland (2010).
Having coached high school runners for 10 years, Patrick earned his M.A. in the great books from St. John’s College, Annapolis, in 1999 and his B.A. in Government from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
He is currently a financial advisor with MassMutual Financial Group, and has an ultimate running goal to complete the Badwater Ultramarathon – the Grandaddy of all races:)
But the LORD has other, better plans for Patrick and family. Diagnosed last week – 12/23/2016 – with stage 3 malignant brain cancer, Patrick is in the race of his life to defeat “AOD” – Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma. The coming months bring a 6-week radiation treatment and the beginning of consecutive chemotherapy treatments. Patrick wants to fit in The Boston Marathon this April, Jana and doctors willing, but will defer to his “Badwater battle” against cancer as he is so counseled. Please join us in the fight. God is ever faithful, and we are excited to see how He will use this for His glory.
